Is your dog….
Reactive to other dogs?
Showing aggressive behaviour to people?
Anxious or distressed?
A Clinical Animal Behaviourist, rather than a trainer, is needed when a dog is showing problem behaviours.
Clinical Animal Behaviourists are trained in animal psychology as well as in how to implement effective, management, training and other interventions.
Clinical Animal Behaviourists only work on veterinary referral. This is in order to rule out any medical causes of behaviour change as well to carry out any tests or interventions including medication.
Some examples of behavioural issues I can help with
Problems with behaviour towards people
Problems with behaviour towards other dogs
Anxieties, fears and phobias
Separation anxiety
In addition to many years (decades) of experience, I have studied to achieve qualifications in clinical animal behaviour and registered by accrediting professional bodies.
As behaviour change is driven by an animal’s biology, a veterinary check and referral is needed before I can work on behaviour modification. This is because some issues can have an underlying medical cause.
If you are not sure whether the problem is a training issue or a behavioural concern? Then I can do an inexpensive Assess and Advise visit which will give you some information as well as some practical help you can use straight away,
Changing the way a dog feels and behaves takes time and understanding. I am both trained and certified to help bring about positive change using a range of techniques. I only use methods that are currently being taught at the top universities. These are fear-free to ensure your relationship with your dog is never compromised.
